On Topic: Voter Registration
The problems with the current system of voter registration in most parts of the country affect both the accuracy of voter registration rolls and the size of the voting population. A Utah Commission has unanimously recommended adopting an automatic voter registration process, and the results of a pilot study of interstate voter registration file matching are presented.

The EAC recently released the results of the 2008 Uniformed and Overseas Citizen Voting Act Survey, which aggregated information on how many UOCAVA ballots were sent, received, and counted. It is the primary tool by which Congress, federal agencies and the public can monitor the compliance with UOCAVA.

Responding to a request regarding the feasibility of adopting a vote-by-mail system in Los Angeles, the City Clerk wrote this memo. In it she discusses the potential impact of this change on voter turnout and the cost of implementing such a program.
