2008 Virginia Election Administration Survey (PDF)

For many Americans, the nuts and bolts of the administration of elections are often forgotten in the actual process of voting. A new study, conducted by the Voter Registrars Association of Virginia in consultation with researchers from George Mason University, uses surveys of general registrars and electoral board members to find significant variation across jurisdictions in the commonwealth.

Long Lines at Polling Stations? Observations from an Election Day Field Survey (PDF) | APRIL 2009

Through an Election Day field study, the authors examine the commonality of lines at polling stations. They find inefficiencies in all three steps of casting a ballot, which they define as voter arrivals, voter is served by poll workers, and voter interaction with voting machine.
